Have you ever made a huge mistake with paint color?
I could not get over that purple!! It sounded like a good idea at the time, and many fellow fb friends seemed to think it would be awesome! So I did it.
I painted my booth Aubgergine (dark purple). It was so dark and dreary in my booth, it had to be changed.
Sooo... after a couple of weeks whining and losing sleep over it, I repainted!!!
I bet I sleep good tonight!!!
It's much brighter and shabbier. Even the mall owner appreciates me going light.
What a relief!! But the money to fix this teeny space wasn't cheap! The paint wasn't just a few dollars. I had to buy Kilz to cover the paint! And I had to do it heavily. Then I was recommended to buy a really good paint to ensure good coverage. Boy am I glad I listened. I still needed to go over it here and there with a second coat.
Tip #1 - don't try to rush a primer. If you start to roll over it too soon, you will lift it all off the wall!
Tip #2 - Don't paint a heavy dark color in a very small space.
I do have contrast in my booth, there is a huge steel gray door and lots of chippy bricks painted with about 100 years of paint.
See the bricks? I love them. So I did a little teensy weensy wall treatment with paper and cut outs. Rubbed plaster and paint over them to make them look like they've been there just as long.
Meet my newest treasure - Chippy Hoosier. I love her!!! And she looks beautiful against my newly painted walls.
Oh, the color of my paint?? It's Valspar - "Cream in my Coffee" how perfect is that right!!??
And here's my newest fun seller. My Little Lambie Pillow. Just right for Spring and Easter right??
Tootles for now!!

Jen - Your booth looks so much bigger. I too, have made some real painting doozeys! But, we learn by doing and sometimes it works out. That's the feeling I'm having about doing my kitchen cabinets in red????
ReplyDeleteLove your dress from at Polka Dot Closet. It was fun, wasn't it?

Your booth looks so pretty Jen! What a bunch of work! When we moved here, my daughter's room was pale blue with green grass, roads done in black and animals, large, colorful, goofy-looking animals! Some were cute, like the guitar playing cow and tumbling chicks, but they all had to go! So, she painted her room dark blue except for the cow and chicks - she painted around them! Not the best painter either. When she moved out we primed and primed and primed and painted and painted in a sage green. I didn't think we'd ever get it all covered! The room was done all shabby chic and pretty. Then she moved back in - argh! Messy! Well, at least the paint is better than it was! LOL! Hugs, Leena
